Abstract: Monocytes as effectors of the innate immunity present an attractive target for diagnostic and therapy of diseases with inflammatory processes. Inflammation plays an important role in the process of origin and development of breast cancer [1]. In this study, subpopulations of monocytes associated with inflammation and expressing CD68, CD163, CD206, CD119 (INF-R), CD124 (IL-4R), stabilin-1 and the number of monocytes producing cytokines IL-1[beta] and TNF-[alpha] were quantitatively determined in peripheral blood in patients with breast cancer and healthy people by flow cytometry. The expression levels of genes associated with the inflammatory status of monocytes IL-1[beta], IL-6, IL-8, TNF-[alpha], TGF-[beta], stabilin-1, CCL18, were obtained in CD14+ mononuclear cell fraction with qPCR. Concentration of INFy, IL-1[beta], TNF-[alpha] was determined in serum of breast cancer patients and healthy donors by ELISA. Significant differences of variables received from patient and healthy donors were detected. The molecular subtype, the size of the primary tumor and the involvement of regional lymph nodes affect to phenotypic properties of monocytes in patients with breast cancer.
