Abstract: On the basis of X-ray diffraction and chemical analysis data, it was found that cadmium sulfide exhibiting the "size effect" is formed during the UV irradiation of aqueous solutions of cadmium thiosulfate. Sulfate ions and hydrogen ions accumulate in the aqueous solution. It was shown that the yield of cadmium sulfide is affected by the concentration of thiosulfate ions in the solution. The overall equation of photolysis of cadmium thiosulfates is proposed.
