Abstract: The study examines materials used in spacecraft construction for protection against galactic cosmic radiation. The characteristics of various shielding materials are analyzed based on their effectiveness in radiation attenuation, low specific weight, cost efficiency, mechanical strength, radiation resistance, and ease of installation. Traditional materials, such as aluminum and titanium alloys, as well as advanced composites, including hydrogen-rich polymers and nanomaterials, are considered. The results highlight the advantages and limitations of different materials and emphasize the need for further development of efficient radiation shielding solutions for long-duration space missions
