Victor Ahn: individual triumph over bureaucracy or why he is considered to be a hero in Korea

Abstract

The bureaucracy problems in South Korea are considered through the example of former Korean sportsman Victor Ahn who had to change nationality to withstand it and continue his sport career. Common information about collective and individual communities is given and compared; features of Korea society are underlined and considered. At the end the author exemplifies bureaucracy issue in South Korea and sums up by answering the question given in the title.

Рассматриваются проблемы бюрократии в Южной Корее на примере того, что бывший корейский спортсмен Виктор Ан был вынужден сменить гражданство, чтобы противостоять ей и продолжить свою спортивную карьеру. Дана общая информация о коллективистских и индивидуалистских обществах в сравнении. В конце статьи автор на примере показывает проблему бюрократии в Южной Корее и отвечает на вопрос, данный в заголовке.
