| Abstract: | Proficiency in English as a foreign language is stated as one of the prerequisites in Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100 for the leading universities in Russia to compete on global scale for academic leadership and recognition. TPU has developed in-house English training provision for its staff and is the only university in Russia that systematically invested in different staff categories learning English for performing professional activities within the University Competitiveness Enhancement Programme. The paper discusses the target university staff categories and their goals for mastering English; training system features; the English training provision integration into TPU performance and new developments within the system. |
