Abstract: This paper examines two Russian translations of the novel «It's Never Too Late to Mend» by Charles Reade in terms of literary translation variability. The presence of two Russian interpretations of this work, published almost simultaneously in 1857, allows us to raise the highly topical problem of translation multiplicity, still being an understudied issue of literary translation theory.
